Psycho-Educational assessment
This assessment includes an intake interview with parents, a cognitive and scholastic assessment, feedback meeting and comprehensive report. Information from teachers and previous reports are also reviewed. It is often referred to as a "Global assessment" because of how comprehensive it is in assessing a child's current cognitive and scholastic functioning.
The information below outlines the assessment process and costs:
To book an appointment, please email [email protected] or send a WhatsApp to 0828944306. I will follow up with you to go over the referral reason and send you a link to book an assessment date. Please note that there may be a 10-12 week wait for an appointment.
Upon booking, you will receive an email and SMS notification of the booking and a calendar link will be sent to you.
Approximately three weeks before the scheduled assessment, an email will be sent to you containing links for the necessary forms and details about the intake meeting date.
The week before the assessment, you will receive an email outlining the deposit fee of R4000 to be paid prior to the assessment. Unfortunately, this has had to be put in place to do some non-payments in the past.
The assessment process consists of three primary steps:
The cost for a comprehensive psycho-educational assessment ranges between R6800 and R9000. The fee depends on factors such as the time taken, additional online tests used, or if additional autism assessments are required. The fees cover the intake meeting, assessment, feedback meeting, and a detailed report. Please bear in mind that a full assessment can take up to 5 hours of contact time and anything between 3 and 8 hours to write a report depending on the complexity of the case. This is why it is so expensive.
Please note that this is a cash practice, and if you intend to claim from your medical aid (MSA), provide your medical aid details on the intake form, which will be sent to you closer to the assessment date.
After the assessment, a detailed report outlining your child's strengths and areas requiring support will be compiled. While I strive to provide feedback within 1 to 2 weeks, please allow 2-3 weeks for the completion of the report.
Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

The assessment process consists of three primary steps:
- Initially, there will be an intake meeting with the parents exclusively, which can be conducted either in person or via Zoom.
- The actual assessment of your child will require approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. For children under the age of 6, the assessment will likely be divided into two sessions (with a school observation).
- Following the assessment, there will be a feedback meeting with the parents, preferably in person. This meeting is typically scheduled for 2 weeks after the assessment date.
